Here's something I've been wrapping my head around lately.
Chow has stated emphatically that he will not change his QB once he's made his decision (unless injury/trouble require it).
I understand why someone would want to stick with their top guy even through the rough games, and I don't believe SS is near the top of the list of issues.
But, what type of message does this send to the rest of the QBs or the rest of the team? How much effort are the backups going to put in? How about SS himself? (I don't doubt that he is pushing himself every week, just speaking for argument's sake.)
Even if he slacked off, or doesn't correct his correctable errors from week to week, he's still THE GUY, no matter how much improvement another QB might make? And no matter how another QB's strengths might work in our favor against the defense's weaknesses?
Can he at least stop staring down his receiver on every single play? That alone would relieve a lot of the fan heat he's taking, imo.
I don't know if I agree with the change-because-this-ain't-working mentality, but I surely would like to see more adaptation, outside the box thinking, etc. out of Coach.

Very true. The message it gives the backups are no matter how well they do, they will never be considered. Why even try if you're a backup QB?

I think it's utterly repulsive that Chow will stubbornly stick to his QB even though we're losing by 70 points... I wasn't calling for his head the first few games, but the fact that the playcalling and the decisions are something to be desired, perhaps there was a reason why he never landed a HC gig until now?

On tonight coach's show, NC said that SS is his guy as long as he is here. WTH is wrong with Chow? How can one guy be so frickin stubborn? I really was a huge NC supporter but I can't put up with this kind of decision making. So frustrating!

We have to be patient - we need a lot more than just a good QB.

We have to be patient - we need a lot more than just a good QB. Heard people say SS has a long delivery. I didn't think so. I watched the Saints game yesterday and noticed that SS delivery is just as quick as Brees'. The problem is that our receivers inability to get open and having a qb who never played a down in college.

It would help if the WR catch the damn ball.

When you are losing as bad as they are, why not try and see if another QB could be more effective than SS. There are some players who play better in a real game than in practice and there are QBs who look good in practice the freeze up in a real game.

Then I agree with you 100%. We may need many things but you have to start with the leader of the offense.

At this point Chow seems to be 100% devoted on SS no matter how poor the offense is doing. Why not see what the other guys have to offer?

The coupla practices I saw, they were all pretty hopeless. Clearly the best of the bunch at that time was Schroeder. The rest looked pretty bad out there. Maybe NC would like to try someone else, but they're so bad he can't take that chance?
