CSUN takes the first set 25-22. Either Northridge is underrated, or the Wahine are overrated....

It was nice to get the win... Shoji wasn't happy with the performance. Said that it was a very sloppy game and they have issues... It's good to hear that he expects more from his players than to just get by against a .500 Big West opponent.

A win is a win but this was a very sub par night for the Wahine. They definately didn't look like a Top 10 team.

Ugh! In the 1st set, Uiato refused to go to the middles, as usual. Typically, wherever Hartong was, that's where she'd go...period. Once in a while, she'd set the left even if it wasn't Hartong out there. Once she started to get other attackers more involved, the Wahine were much more effective. Still, she's predictable and frankly, I don't think she's setting as quick as she was earlier. She still doesn't connect with either Vorster or Adolpho very well, seems like once out of 5 or 6 tries they might make a good connection.
That said, the Wahine didn't seem their sharpest tonight. Fortunately, CSUN had a lot of errors (especially by their Freshman attacker)...which helped us out a lot. That, combined with overall better talent (I still don't think there's really an equal for the Wahine right now in the BW), and they were able to pull it out.
Tai Manu-Olevao had a good debut performance in the SSC. She seems very comfortable on the right--which I guess means that Hartong will be moving over to OH on the left. M-O didn't look particularly nervous--in fact, hit more confidently and assertively than Goodman has. DS is very fortunate to have had M-O in the stable now that it seems Jane has crapped out.
Just got home from the Ohana Hoopfest...got some photos of the basketball teams that I have to process. Will post them as soon as I can get that done...
